Briggs & Stratton Platinum 190cc bent blade wont start

I I really goofed . On my Briggs Platinum 190cc push mower from Sears I hit a piece of steel and bent the blade. I took the blade off and the engine turns over smoothly with the rope pull but will only fire once in a while. I do not detect any obvious wabble on the shaft. Could the timing be off because of the impact?

Sheared key is a possibility and won't hurt to check it.
If blade is not attached...that in itself will cause difficulty in startup.
The blade acts as a kind of flywheel and smooths out the combustion pulses.

Thanks Russ. I will check the keyway and put a new blade on it and see what happens.
