so, I have a 5hp Briggs vertical shaft motor the Carburetor is shot due to the fact that I used 12% vinegar, and it ate the carburetor completely there is nothing left to rebuild LOL, the numbers on the motor are as follows MODEL # 130902 / TYPE # 11198-04 / CODE #83122306 in my research I have found that the carb # for this motor is part # 299448
in searching online, I have found MODEL Series 130202 does this include my motor? also, the only Carb I can find is part # 299437 is that close enough to work? also, I have seen on Amazon carbs that come with gas tanks as well, the one I have is repairable, but I would rather have a new one. I look forward to hearing from anyone who can shed some light on this for me TIA.

Here is your carb, https://www.partstree.com/models/13...rtical-engine/carburetor-fueltank-a-c-grps-1/. The carb number for the year you listed is 299448, which is no longer available. Your best bet is to check with every repair shop in your area for a scrap one or to try to find one on Fleabay, be careful.

If your model is 130902-1198-04 then 396748 is the carburetor for your date code. But Briggs said it is NLA.

Talking about codes can someone please explain them to me?

My Briggs says:
Model 407777
Type 0128 E1
Code 000845YG

When I went to Briggs parts they only had 407777-0131-E1 parts diagram and no 0128.

Which of these is the date code and how to read it?

First the IPL for the 407777-0128-E1 is there.

Now date code first six digits is YYMMDD. The last two characters is the factory code.

Why do you put vinegar in the gas?????????? I switched a few yrs back to only use High test fuel. In Cda there si no ethanol in it. Ethanol absorbs water and can cause issues especially for storage.

I haven't heard of this vinegar in gas thing.

And yes ethanol does absorbs moisture from the air which is you store fuel in sealed containers beside storing in unsealed containers in places like small storage building is asking for problems. One spark at the wrong time things goes boom.

Feeling very silly, the date code is 000815YG Not 000845YG, so I was confused about the date code. Manufactured Aug 15, 2000.

As to the parts diagram, I can only guess that I was on a Euro Briggs site and not the US one.

When I contacted them they replied via email with the 407777-0131-E1 diagrams.

The email came from Wendy Dimas <briggs.lmp@smallenginesparts.zohodesk.com>

However, it also included these comments and a Florida phone number.

"Thank you for choosing us!

Here is one with your part number on ebay. He wants $19.90 for it pluss $29 shipping. It's supposed to be NOS and is in Hong Kong.

I just wanted to add, you could make an adaptor plate and make a similar sized carb work. I have done that with several engines.

One question Jackdm. Did you even bother to lookup the IPL of the OP's engine? I am pretty darn sure you can't put a single barrel carburetor on a twin barrel intake. If the OP wants to go with the carb you posted the OP would have change out at least the intake manifold.

Please lookup IPLs before just randomly throwing something out there. Not every engine setup is the same for a particular model that is why we must have the type/spec numbers along with the model numbers. And sometimes we need the date code / serial number as OEM may have made changes along the way.

Maybe my reply should have been have a look on amazon, copied the wrong no, this looks more to what is being looking for. carburetor 405777 duel barrel. These carbs may not be a perfect match, made the 1 i needed worked with a little modification and a lot cheaper than OEM.
