Here is what I'm trying to do.
I have two B&S engines, both with the same model and type, but the code is different. One has mfg date as 2002 and other is 2001. I would like to take the piston from the 2002 and install it in the 2001. The diameter is the same and goes in cylinder ok, but the height of piston in the 2002 is more than the 2001. I also need to use the connecting rod from the 2001 with the 2002 piston but that puts the piston to high in the cylinder by about 1/8 in . The top of the 2002 piston is thicker than the 2001.I have looked at all the parts and shown only one piston for this model. If I had a shorter connecting rod I think it would work but have not found one.
The 2002 engine threw the connector rod through the block and of course the rod broke. The 2001 engine burned a hole in the top of piston but the rod is ok, That is why I'm trying to change out the parts between the two. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!!

The model number is right (313707) type is 0126E1. I found it on a lot of sites but like I stated it only shows one piston and
rod for this model and I have two different pistons. Only thing I can think of is the connecting rods. One has to be shorter than the other in order for the piston to be right. I measured the cylinder of both engines and they are the same. The crank shaft seams to be the same also. If I could find a drawing of the piston with all specks I could check that. Again, Thanks
Thank you for double checking, I found the engine. It shows that two different rods were used on that model. Part numbers 692419 and 692420. The 692420 rod is no longer available, but if I did my research correctly, that is a .020 undersized rod which you shouldn't need. With that being said, I don't understand why you would have two different rods for the same engine. To see if you have the undersized rod, measure the crankpin diameter on each crankshaft and compare with the specs in the manual. If one of them has been ground, you may have to swap crankshafts also.

In other words the 69240 is a longer rod than the 692419. I bet B&S used the longer rod because the piston was shorter which makes sense. Neither of the engine cranks have been turned. One is a 2001 and the other is a 2002, I guess maybe
they changed during this time to a heaver piston as the smaller one was the one that burned a hole in the center. I can see why as it is thinner than the other. So I guess I will go with the one listed.You would think they would have changed the model number but they did not. Thanks for all your help. Have a great day!!!
