Briggs & Stratton 3.75hp Sprint leaking gas

I recently acquired a used push mower that did run but not well. I broke down the mower to clean and tune up as it has been sitting for awhile. I replaced the diaphragm and gasket as I already had it apart. After putting everything back together, gas is leaking from between the carb and gas tank; it looks like it is coming from between the gasket and diaphragm. I thought maybe either the new gasket or diaphragm were damaged so I bought another from a small engine repair, a direct B&S part. After putting this new set of diaphragm and gasket on, it still leaks from the same spot. It did not leak here before taking it apart.

Is it possible that I warped the carb while rebuilding or that both new sets of gaskets were damaged? Is there any kind of sealant that I can add in this spot to stop the leaking?

u may have cracked the carb its plastic i cracked one myself ....But i have also seen them leak if the screws are not tight enough try to tighten them up a little more and see if that helps

Thanks for the reply. It is definately leaking from between the gasket and the diaphragm. I made sure all of the screws are tight without being too tight. I was told that if I tightened them too much, I could warp the carb. I dont know if this is true, but this leak was not here until I put everything back together so it may be so.

The biggest problem I am having is I dont have a model/serial number stamped on my mower. I can only assume that the cover has been replaced and the numbers were stamped on the original. Because of this, I am having trouble even buying a new carb. No one wants to help me without the model and serial number. Any ideas on part numbers for the carb, linkage, springs and gaskets? I would just buy all new parts and start over if I could.

the model number should be at the front of the cover its stamped into it ...Those gaskets and carbs where used for a very long time ...I will send u a number off one of mine then u can order one i would to tighten it up just a little more ..I had one last week that leaked just after i changed the gaskets i tightened up the screws a little bit more and the leak went away and it ran perfect its worth a try ...also post a pic of the carb for me

I did try to tighten the screws again. I tightened them until I felt I could not tighten them any more without breaking the plastic. The leak still persists.
