I have some problems with my mower.. It's started to leak gas out the exhaust. Maybe time for a carb rebuild, which I have never done.
Any ideas what else I can do instead of a carb rebuild? If not, which rebuild kit does it take? Seems I went to a website and it had two different ones under the engine I listed.. The B&S 28V707-1170-E1

Thanks!

Time to rebuild the carb. Take it off and go to your shop engine repair shop with it and your numbers. They should be able to help you. I just looked it up and would make to see the carb to tell you which kit you would need. They may also give you some tips on what to look for.

I just rebuilt my first one too. I just searched you tube for how to rebuild a briggs and stratton carburetor and found several videos with pretty good walkthroughs (and was very easy other than having a hard time getting one of the parts out of it which this forum helped me with). I also bought a B&S service manual off ebay for $5 although it arrived after I finished. :)

I also found good videos of adjusting it after the rebuild.

Sorry to bump my old thread, but I'm just now taking off this carb..

How do I remove the Throttle bar and govenor bar ?? Not sure which is which one that has a small wire running next to it and goes toward the top of the carb?

Thanks, sorry so inexperienced?

I don't have too much experience, but I'm guessing the one with the small wire is the throttle. Try moving what would normally change the throttle and see what moves.

Don't how to say this, but if your asking that question you may be over your head. The linkage with the thin spring, is the throttle link which does from the governor to the carb. Good luck and be careful, you could ruin something.
