Briggs and stratton

hi all, spent along time reading but never posted. I have just purchased a waker plate (I know not a lawn mower but close) with a briggs engine on it. I guess it is approx 5hp. Can any one identify the model number from the atached pics. I have cleaned it up today and got it running but there is no exhaust/muffler.

also, i think the crank thread is 5/16 can anyone confirm?

Look on the top of the shroud (that's the part with the IC decal) for the model, type and code numbers stamp in. If they are not on top, they will be on the side. Post those numbers and we will be able to answer all your questions.

That looks identical to my tiller engine the choke, throttle, etc are all the same I will try to get a picture on here later, and my model# to see if it is close enough to help with your questions.

:smile: For mufflers, you have two options, 493288/691360 B&S #'s. It probably had the 493288 from the factory. The PTO end of the crank should be tapped for a 5/16-24 bolt. The picture wjjones posted is the same design but a 5hp (13c.i.). Go to partstree.com, click B&$ engine and put your engine numbers in the box, use 082232-4035-02 for an IPL of your engine.

:smile: You are Welcome. when I use stainless, I coat it with Never-seize to keep it from qualling to the carbon steel.
