Hello All.
I have a mower with a B&S Quantum 6.0. It always started on the first pull until about a month ago. It now takes 10 or so pulls to turn over. After the fist start, it starts fine, so 'm assuming that it's a priming issue. I cleaned the carb and replaced the priming bulb, but no improvement. Any ideas?
Remove the air filter and while looking into the carb press the primer bulb to make sure it is actually pushing fuel into the carb. the engines with the square air filter like to warp where it connects to the carb, and will allow an air leak, which will prevent priming. Also make sure the bowl nut is clean, since that is where the main jet is.
adjust valves with engine cold, post model xxxxxx type xxxx trim xx from engine for correct settings, compression release on camshaft will not operate properly if valves are out of adjustment. your engine manual should have intake & exhaust valve settings.
