I have older Briggs and Stratton 5 horse and I am looking to go from points to no points using a newer coil pack. Does anyone have any parts numbers or references or info on how to do this?

Well without the model and spec numbers it is only a guess. But if it is an aluminum block and not cast iron then
397358/697037/395490/395491 are used on 5hp engines such as 130000 series flat heads.
Basically just clip the wire to points and install the newer coil pack. Old points can be left in place or removed but if the points are removed then the plunger hole must be plugged.
Universal Electronic Ignition Module For Small Engines to. Replaces the Points and Condenser. Can be used on Twin Cylinder engines, Must use one module for each cylinder. NOT FOR BATTERY IGNITION SYSTEMS .
