I have a Briggs and Stratton 300 push mower that won't start. I have taken the carburetor off and cleaned it, and replaced the spark plug. When I pull the cord I get nothing. Once or twice it acted like it was going to start but immediately died, but that is very rare, most of the time it's just nothing. Any ideas?
did you remove this jet cartridge and clean it good? very tiny holes can get stopped up easily. seem to more so on these. steve did a good video on these (except for the opening up the jet part, don't do that quite yet)
Spray gum out carb cleaner in through carb and see if it will start. If so dirty carb. When you say cleaned the carb what did you clean. Did you take the main jet out and clean it?The white piece in the center. It will have a brass piece with a hole in it. It will be at the bottom in the older styles and at the top in newer ones The white piece in the center. Take a pair pliers and you can pull it out there is a meter jet in it that controls all the fuel that goes to the engine.
Yes I disassembled the carb and fully cleaned it. I took the jet out and used the metal part of a bread tie to clean out the individual jets and sprayed it down with carb cleaner.

lets see if we can get some history on this mower, did you buy it used/not running? have you hit a branch or something solid with it lately?
