I changed the oil and filter on my mower and was riding it when all of a sudden it started reveing on high speed.
I can pull up on the governor lever/idil and it will rev normal until I let go, then it Revs like a bat out of hell.
What could be the issue?
Can I loosen the screw on the governor and adjust the idil?

first thing the expert repair guys (not me) will ask for is the model number of your engine
thanks
MY sincere apologies, I meant SECTION 4 Page 1 ( starting ) , Got too many folders on the desk trying to look up parts, manuals etc. etc. and the wifey in my ear, plus I'm an ol fart, sufferin brain over-load ....
Question is, what happened to make it all of a sudden race like that?
Everything seems to be working right except for the high reving.
If I pull up on the idel it will slow down. But as soon as I let it go, it races full speed.
In post 3 you say its a v twin.....! then you say in post 9 its not its just a regular 20HP B & S, going by the photo in facebook its a v twin, very confusing for us here..!

Looks exactly like my V-twin !! ... I would think the problem may be in the 2 Governor springs on the Throttle Control Bracket, or the Governor arm adjustment.
