I changed the oil and filter on my mower and was riding it when all of a sudden it started reveing on high speed.
I can pull up on the governor lever/idil and it will rev normal until I let go, then it Revs like a bat out of hell.
What could be the issue?
Can I loosen the screw on the governor and adjust the idil?

Numbers are stamped into the valve covers on that engine.

Question is, what happened to make it all of a sudden race like that?
Everything seems to be working right except for the high reving.
If I pull up on the idel it will slow down. But as soon as I let it go, it races full speed.

It's not a v twin . Just a regular 20 HP B & S

Looks exactly like my V-twin !! ... I would think the problem may be in the 2 Governor springs on the Throttle Control Bracket, or the Governor arm adjustment.
