I have a mower that has a Briggs Classic 450 series Model 90000 engine. I have no problem really with the engine but the linkages of the carb give me a fit. I have the two carb springs on order. I cannot run the mower, of course, without the springs, the engine just surges.
I bought the mower in Cagayan De Oro City. They did take it out and start it for me and it ran fine. After I started using it the mower started running poorly surging the engine and such. At that point, I noticed that the springs had fallen off and were lost. The springs for the linkages to the carb have different lengths, of course. Since the springs fell off and are lost. I looked up the schematic for the carb and see where the springs attach to what points. They both attach to the governor coming out of the engine. The part I can't find is the crooked little metal device that attaches from the governor and holds the two springs. I have attached the photo that clearly shows the two springs attaching to this thick wire device. I have ordered the springs but could not find the thick wire device. Does anyone know the name of it? Does it even matter about that device? All it does is connect the two springs to the governor shaft. Couldn't I just connect the springs directly to the governor shaft?
I have circled the part in the carb photo in yellow.
Thanks for any help I can get.
