I have a Simplicity rider and repowered the 16 hp Briggs with a 2015 Briggs 27 hp 724cc professional series. It ran fine since last year last week it was idling and just died. I can get it to start sometimes if I crank it and play with the choke, it idles smooth then dies and may or may not start again. Sometimes I get popping from the carb or backfire from the exhaust at times. I checked for spark and I had it on both cylinders while cranking. Tried to spray carb cleaner to get it to run but no change. This motor has low hours on, any common problems with these motors. Any help or advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like maybe a fuel related issue. Make sure you have fresh gas and a new fuel filter, clean spark plugs with the correct gap and a clean air filter. If this doesn't help then you might want to think about cleaning the carb. Here is the guide lines from the B7S website:

Let us know what you do and how it works for you.
