Good morning everyone. I am a new member so go easy.OK?
I have a Husqvarna 46" cut with a briggs 22hp engine. The engine has run high at idle ever since I have owned it, so I decided to adjust the idle speed.
I loosened the clamp nut on the governor and adjusted it according to the B&S website. I put the throttle control on full throttle, loosened the clamp nut, rotated the governor fully clockwise (governor linkage turns downward to go to full speed), and tightened the clamp nut. Now when I crank the engine even with the throttle control on idle, the engine wants to race. I have tried manually holding the governor linkage is the closed (idle) position and the engine still wants to race. So I said OK maybe I went the wrong way with the governor adjustment. Went through the same process and adjusted the governor counter-clockwise while holding linkage in full throttle position. At this setting I could not move the linkage at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
