Hello, I am replacing a 12.5 hp Briggs engine on a Murry riding mower with a Briggs14.5Hp model 31a507-1516 engine. There are a few more wires on the 14.5 engine (grey and black coming from a connector under the carb bowl). The 12.5 does not have this? I was told by the selling company after giving them the model # of my 12.5 that the 14.5 would be compatable and fit.:confused2: Can someone help fill me in on how to route these two wires back to my mower? Thanks

The black wire coming off the fuel solenoid should already be connected to the block with a small screw that holds the cylinder sheet metal on. The gray wire needs to go to a 12 v power source that comes on when you turn the key on, and also remains on even in the crank position.

Thanks for the reply Ilengine. Do you have any sugestions as to where I can pick up the 12 v as stated? Thanks

You need to find a prong on the key switch that has power in both the start and run positions, and no power in the off position. Could be marked A or L, but you will have to check to make sure it maintains power in the above mentioned positions.

Thanks a bunch for replying! I was thinking about connecting somwhere on the switch perhaps the lights. I know they are off in the off position but they do not stay on unless riding in the lights position, I suppose I could ride with the lights on:smile:. Also had the black wire that comes back around to the 4 pin connector. I was thinking should I splice that wire into the old kill switch yellow wire? Thanks
