I have a pressure washer with a briggs 10h900 engine. Wouldnt start so i replaced the plug, air filter, and cleaned the carb. After putting it back together it started in one or two pulls and ran great. I shut it off after 30 seconds or so to tightwn the hose. I did so by turning the throttle all the way down. Tried starting it back up and it doesn't even sound like it wanted to start. I pulled the plug and it smelt like fuel so i let it set and pulled the cord a few times with the spark plug out. Put the plug back in and started up fine. Let it run for a minute or so then shut it off. Tried starting again a couple minutes later and the same issue happened. I then bought a new carb and installed it. Started on the first pull but when i shut it off the same thing happened. Wont start up. I think its flooding but im not exactly sure why. Any help would be appreciated as im at my wits end with it.
I ended replacing the whole carb as the first one was also having issues. Its one of those in fueltank plastic carbs briggs use. Will check choke and get back to ya.
So i took a look at it and it looks like the choke is staying open for the most part. Whether it is a cold or hot start doesn't matter. I got it started earlier by popping the spark plug out and tugging on the cord. Popped it back in the put a screwdriver on the carb to hold it closed and it started. Pulled the screwdriver out and let it run for a few minutes. Tried starting again and its a no go. The choke was in the open position at this point.
