So I found an old Bolens BL150 in my shed and try it out before I went and bought a new trimmer. It has been sitting in the shed for years without being touched. It had no gas in it, so I bought some gas and oil and put it in there and it started right up. A couple weeks later I went to use it and it wouldn't start. I noticed the gas lines were broken/crumbling in spots and it had leaked a whole tank of gas into my garage.

So I bought new fuel lines, replaced them, and cleaned out the carb while I was at it. Only problem is now I can get it to start, but it only lasts for about 3-5 seconds before it dies. Its like it just loses power and can't keep it going.

Also I think there is a possible leakage from the fuel line that goes from the tank to the primer bulb. I know I have the correct size line but this one seems to be very loose in the hole, it doesn't fit snug in there at all and moves around at the slightest touch. It is a very small leak and I don't think its a big issue, but I don't really know.

Any suggestions on the problem and what I can do to fix it?

Thanks

I have this same problem. I wrapped electrical tape around my gas line because it too was slit on the outer plastic. It worked for about 15 minutes before it suddenly went out again and now it won't stay on every time I start it. I'm gonna try and replace the fuel lines like you did. Where did you go to replace them?

When you cleaned out the carb did you totally take it apart? I had a similar problem and the problem was with the needle valve and lots of garbage in this area. I was kind of surprised it ran at all.
