Bolens 38" Deck Engagement Cable Won't Engage

Hi. My 38" Bolens... I installed a new blade engagement cable...When I engage the blades with the lever, its obvious that I am not getting enough tension (springing action) for the blade brake to disengage. Did I buy the wrong part? Is there a diferent able that is 1" shorter that gives me more spring?

The part I bought off Amazon was this:

Double check where you mounted the cable to the idler arm as it is used on both the 38 and 42 inch decks. The correct hole is usually marked 38.

I attached 2 pics of where I have it connected and the second to show how the spring is very slack even before I have it hooked up, which is the frustrating part.
