I've had a Bobcat by Textron mower for 20 plus years. It has a Kawasaki FH601V 19.0 engine. This summer, it has started stalling on me. The first time it did this, it ran for a little over an hour before it started stalling. The second time, it ran for about 45 minutes. The third time, it ran for about a half hour. Most of the time, it will almost quit, but if it stop, it will rev up again, only to stall again as soon as I move forward. When any torque is applied. When it does die, it will start right up again and rev up to normal. But, it will die again as soon as I try to mow again. I have let the mower rest for a couple hours and it will mow again for maybe 20 minutes before it starts stalling again. I have checked the fuel filter and air filter and they seem fine. I've tried to research the issue and it seems like it could be the ignition coil. I don't really know. Any advice would be appreciated.

This favors one of the coils getting hot and failing. You would need an adjustable type of spark tester attached to each coil wire to find out which one is breaking down and failing.

Another method would be to use a spray bottle of water. When it stalls, restart it and then shoot a stream of water at each exhaust outlet near the head. The one that burns of very quickly is the working cylinder.

At this age replacing both coils would be wise. DO NOT buy junk ones from Amazon. Go to Jack's small engine or parts tree.com
