Hi guys, I have a 52" exmark lazer z hp with the kohler command cv23s in it. Motor has 939 hours on it and I have noticed that sometimes when cutting it loses some power and is starting to smoke on start up and at low idle. I also seen a couple small oil spots on the garage floor. Also at low idle it sounds like it has a miss, I checked the compression and one side was Just over 180 other side was a little more. Any info would be greatly apreatiated.

Compression results should not vary more than 10% from 1 cylinder to the other.

Did you test it fully warmed up ? & did u have the throttle wide open when cranking it ?

I'm new to this and never done a compression test on a mower , no it wasn't warmed up or throttled up. I am trying to do a compression test now as mower is warmed up and throttle is up but mower keeps starting is that normal? This is a v twin cv23s kohler command

Please remove all spark plugs when doing a compression test. At cranking speed the throttle will be wide open no matter where you position the throttle lever.

Missing at low idle is often an indication of air being sucked into the cylinder that hasn't gone through the carburetor venturi. Check for air leaks around carb. to engine gasket and hoses etc. With engine running pull spark plug boots one at a time to determine which / if a cylinder is misfiring.
