Last fall I hit a root with my LT1040. I shut it down immediately and replaced the blades but two of the blades now make contact on part of the rotation. Nothing looks bent in there and the spindles are only a year old. Any thoughts? I thought about replacing the blades or a spindle or even shaving a half inch off the blade but I don't want to aimlessly throw money at it nor exacerbate the issue. Thoughts?

Have you checked the deck itself. You probable bent the deck around the spindle housing. Don't try reducing the size of the blades, unless you like deck vibration and want to spend a greater amount of money down the road. Find the problem before spending money.
