Hey everyone,

I’m currently in the market for a new lawn mower, and I want to make sure I choose the right size and type based on the actual size of my lawn. I’ve seen a few online tools and guides that help "calculer surface" (calculate area), but I’m curious how most of you go about measuring your lawn area accurately?

Do you guys use any apps, satellite maps, or even physical measuring tools? I know that figuring out the square footage (or square meters if you're outside the U.S.) is super important, especially when choosing between push mowers, riding mowers, or zero-turns.

Also, if you have any favorite tips for estimating oddly shaped yards, I’d love to hear them.

Appreciate the advice in advance!

Hello Rao,

I don't tend to get too scientific about cutting grass.

Less than one acre a good self-propelled mower would do the job. 1–3-acre A 15HP 38"-42" deck is usually a good size. Above 3 acres go with a 54"-60" zero turn or steering wheel zero turn model.

If there are lots of obstacles, it usually requires a combination of mowers.
