I have a .34 acre lot. My older Poulan Pro just doesn't seem to cut it anymore. I am looking at possibly trading it in at my local John deere dealership and get a new one from them. First, what do you think I could get for a 2008 Poulan pro 21" self propelled mower? Second, what is the best walk behind model that is around 21" and below $550? Thanks!

JD dealers around here are also Honda dealers and the Honda push mower is what I would buy myself without a second thought.
Trade in on the Poulan, honestly you more than likely would do better selling it locally.
Yea you can start at $150.00 and someone might come along and take it at that or make a offer just a tad less which is good to be able to move $25.00 or so.
Not trying to discredit your mower at all just talking about pricing around here.

For what it's worth, I have seen new Poulan mowers off and on at Amazon for $149 delivered. I state this because lots of buyers are going to check Amazon just to get a benchmark on NEW VS USED prices. Today, they have it at $219, but if it drops to $149 again, you have to be aware of this in your used pricing. I'd probably only offer you between $75 to $80 when I got there, if I could get a new one delivered by Amazon for $149. But you can always ASK for $150 and expect negotiations by the prospective buyer.
I also agree with Nwatson. Honda mowers are rock solid for what you pay. I'd probably go Honda before I'd go Deere. Not saying that J.D. is a bad mower, just saying as far as reliable 4 stroke walk behind lawnmowers are concerned, Honda is an incredibly reliable brand. In my business I use 2000 watt Generators a lot, and Honda Generators are absolutely rock solid. Nothing else comes close in that category, IMO.
