I have only been a member for a couple weeks now and have learned that if you need help with lawn equipment this is the site you want to visit. Bought a new briggs and stratton 17.5 H.P. for a toro tractor back in 2013. From day one it never would maintain constant RPM. When under load the RPM would fall right back to 2700 from 3400. This year I took it to a dealer and after nearly a month, they could not find what was going on with the engine. I came to this site and posted my problem hoping someone would be able to help me. Was only a few hours later that I received a reply. Went today and picked up tractor from the shop and brought it home. Followed the site instructions and less the one hour later the engine was running beautiful. RPM was staying at 3400 both under load and with no load. Just can not believe it, turned out to be the tension on governor spring. Want to thank everyone that assisted me with help. Iwill be readin post and hopefully I will get my turn to help someone else. Thanks, Richard

Congrats on getting your mower fixed. Did you go back to the repair shop and tell them?

shootin, Good to get some feedback. Many members put in effort to provide assistance, but probably wonder if it's worth it and who is helped.

Have not had a chance as of today but will as soon as I get a spare moment. They tried and was very honest about not knowing what was going on with the engine. Being the busiest time of year for repair was not the best time for me to take it there.
