I need to replace the castor bearings on my Classic. Anybody have an idea what the torque is for the bearing preload? Is it like the old car front bearings where you tighten to 10 lbft, loosen then turn it finger tight?
Sorry I did not get back to you sooner. I work for a Dixie Chopper dealer and have for the last 16 years. Here is the way I do it and talked to D/C about it as well. They don't post any torque specks for the caster nut. Tighten the nut down and spin the caster to where it turns about 3/4 the way around. I then drive the mower on the parking lot and if the casters don't shimmy you are good to go.
