Bagging problem

Recently purchased Honda HRX217VKA mower does not bag clippings properly. Clip Director is set to fully bag (far left) but clippings accumulate around perimeter of bag where bag attaches to mower deck. The build-up creates a mini-bale of clippings about 3" deep covering the entire opening of the bag but very few clippings are discharged into the bag. The top of the mower deck (under the clam shell) is also filled with compacted clippings. Is there a remedy to this situation?

There will be some leakage around the edges, but should not be that severe. I have an HRX as well, and some clipping will tend to collect along the top edge near the door hinge.

Got any photos of the bag? I am just taking a stab, but maybe the bag is not properly installed onto the frame (seen it before).

More remotely, perhaps the frame is not square, or not sitting flush against the rear of the deck? Can you see any gaps when it is installed?

If all checks out, you may want to have a Servicing Honda Dealer inspect it carefully. You have warranty that would cover any factory defects. FYI, does not matter if you bought it from that dealer or not, they all are obliged to provide warranty service for all Honda products.

Checked bag position. It sits squarely on top of upper rear deck. Frame is inserted per illustration in owner's manual and bag opening is tight against discharge area of rear deck. Have not used mower since problem posted but bag does not appear to be the problem.
