I have a snapper pro hydro 748 with a kaw fc420v-ds09 motor. The unit cranks up, but will not maintain a run outside of choke or low trottle. The previous owner replaced the ignition trigger coil before with a larger coil. Stating that the motor was not getting enough fire to run in full throttle or run the blades. I am now having the same problem. Is it REALLY the ignition coil? or should i be worrying about something else? Checked the carb and its seems fine...gas runs to the bowl. I need help before I spend un nessessary money on hoping i fixed the problem.
what most people don't know is most carbs have a idle circuit and a high speed circuit. The engine runs on the idle circuit even at full throttle until the engine is put under a load and then switches to the high speed side to generate power when the governor opens the throttle plate. 9.5 out of ten times if you have to run the engine with the choke on you have a fuel delivery problem.
