Backpack Leaf Blower Advice Wanted

My smallish Echo backpack bit the dust. Local shop recommended Stihl. The 450 seems too heavy. 350 better. Any other suggestions? The wife like Husqvarna based on Amazon comments.

Have you considered going gas less? I have been extremely happy with all my EGO products, blower, string trimmer and hedge trimmer. They work just as well and gas powered models without the noise and gas problems. EGO just came out with a backpack model. http://www.homedepot.com/p/EGO-145-...k-Blower-with-5-0-Ah-battery-LB6002/207203612 you should check it out.

I don't think that will be enough oomph. I have a ton of trees/leaves.

I would go with Husqvarna. I have the 125B handheld blower, I use it commercially and it's blown over 150 yards for me without a problem. Great power, lightweight and comfortable to use. The neighbor has a 125BT backpack, had it for several years with just one breakdown (starter rope broke.) He uses it to blow off driveway, sidewalks, roof and skateboard ramps on a regular basis. I've also read great reviews on the larger blowers and I intend to go Husqvarna for all my handheld equipment.

The Stihl BR600 is the lightest weight with the most amount of airflow and being a 4 stroke, is quieter than most 2 stroke units.
Although is a 4 stroke, being a dry sump designed engine an oil mix is still needed.
When I bought the BR600, I soon retired the two Stihl hand held units that I had, they were Stihl BG 86 models.

I agree with Mad Mackie. If you have a ton of leaves your moving, go with the Stihl BR 600. I run two of them and they can't be beat. The BR 600 runs 677 CFM out with 238 mph at the tube. The weight is only 20.9lbs. They are what stihl calls a 4 mix engine, a 4 stroke which runs on a gas / oil mixture just like a 2 stroke.

If you want a powerful blower. buy the Maruyama bl85 t its 900 cfm at 225 mph weighs about 22 pounds with real nice straps and back padding . I've used mine for over 6 hours straight and wasn't wore out from it. It also has the air share design so your back wont get sweaty Also has a 5 year warranty .

I had a bad experience with sthil product ... Not the same products they once was.....and forget getting a problem solved under warranty .....their exact word to me was I used it to much .....how can a product 18 days old be used to much.....and yes it was a part of the pro line not the homeowner line

I guess you had a bad experience by the sounds. Sounds like a dealer issue not a product issue. Thing is I really don't care what the guy buys :) it makes no difference to me. As far as calling Stihl junk goes all I can say is I have the BR 200, 380, 550, and two BR 600s and I've never had an issue with any of them. There the best in my book.

Doesn't matter to me either. Just putting my thought out there . Nothing made today is as good as it use to be before all the plastic and epa carb compliant bs . Gone from buy a product that will last to buy it use it if it breaks chunk it replace it.

True, you're probably mowing most of the day while I only do it 10-16 hours per week.

I got the Husqy for three reasons: the air intake doesn't get blocked by the operator during use, it has a good old-fashioned choke instead of Simple Start junk, and it has an adjustable carb so I can tune it to run properly.

The BR700 is awesome! A little heavy but when I saw the bigger ones are all within a lb of each other I went with the bigger one.

Buying 6 pack of Stihl oil doubled Warrantee to 4-years.

Put 3 hours yesterday and 2 hours today on my BR600. Bought it new in Sept 09.
I like how it idles down so I don't blow mulch and small stones as I'm doing leaf cleanup.
I use Stihl premium oil and 93 octane gasoline in all my Stihl power equipment.

Ditto, I also have two 600's and they move leaves, gravel (after I plow it from the drive into the lawn), snow, acorns and the German Sheperd.

Oh Stihl's come out with a br700!!!
I know what I'm buying real soon.

Way I see things when it comes to leaves, you can never have too much power.

I have had a Stihl backpack blower (BR 700?) for 8 or so years with zero problems; and my hand held Stihl doesn't get used. Don't forget it is not the output speed which is important, but the volume of air it pushes.

Personally, I'm both hands for Poulan 48cc Backpack Blower ( it has been decently reviewed on gurureviewclub website). Tons of power and get the job done quick. I've had it for 3 seasons without any issues at all
