Two things that need to be checked when the engine dies. If you turn the key on and off can you hear the fuel solenoid on the carb click to make sure it is heat failing. Also need to make sure that you still have spark at the spark plugs. Either use a spark tester that clips between the spark plug and wire or remove a plug and reinstall into the spark plug wire and then hold the plug against a grounded part of the engine while it is being cranked to determine if you still have spark.
