Hi all, I've been working on a Yardman rider with a single B&S OHV engine. I've static timed the govenor exactly by the book. It surges when I first start it but after it warms up, it will level out and idle & rev. I kitted the carb also. I've bent the tab on throttle bracket a little bit but that dont seem to help either. Any ideas??? Thank, David...:confused2:
If it an engine built in about the last 4-5 years or newer, the carbs are set to run so lean, due to emissions standards that they run lean when cold, but smooth out after warming up. What you describe is normal for a lot of the newer engines. Sorry about the runnability problems at start up.
Yea, once it warms up it's nice & smooth at idle and at WOT. Have 2 different ones in the shop right now doin same thing. Both are B&S OHV singles. 12hp if I'm not mistaken and one of them is brand spanking new the other is few yrs old. I've richened up the carbs on both and that seems to help some. Anyway thank you for the info, David............
