B&S 17.5hp on Craftsman T110 Extreme white smoke at startup. Oil is fresh and at top of hash marks on dipstick. Blue/white smoke pours out of the muffler for the first 5-7 mins of warm up then clears up. Otherwise runs fine. What can be causing this? It's only about 1.5 years old with normal use.

If its the engine i think it is, most likely it is a blown head gasket between the push rod chambers and the cylinder. a quick check you can do is let it run to operating temperature, shut it down, and remove the dipstick, if you see whisps of smoke coming out of the tube, most likely the head gasket is blown.
Please post the model, type and code of the engine,

Ok. Thank you. I'll look that up and post it later today. Would a blown head gasket stop smoking when the engine warms up?

31R9070062G1 is on the sticker on the engine as the engine model number but I can’t find it in the B&S website. Trying to find the proper gasket.

Yes, a slightly blown head gasket can cause it to smoke on startup then clear up and run good. I just changed one a few months ago where it would puff one big puff of blue white smoke on startup and then run fine.

Yea, mine clouds up the neighborhood for 5-7 min with thick bluish/white smoke, then runs fine with no smoke when warmed up.

Thank you! Just ordered now. Videos seem pretty easy. Would you happen to know where I could find torque specs for the different bolts that are removed in the process?

Main thing that needs torqued would be the cylinder head bolts, 220 inch pounds.
you can also scroll down until find 31000 under the heading OHV single cylinder
it appears the torques and measurements are metric on this one,,,, which can easily be converted to Inch or foot pounds, or thousandths.
