H I BOUGHT A B@S Used to put on my 4 walk behind scag. I clean the carb, put in new plug. Now it fires but wont stay running. It has spark and I think it get fuel. When I pull carb bowl off fuel flows. Any idea what to look for?

have you tried putting starting fluid in the carb to see if it starts if it does then its a fuel issue such as a jet or port thats not clean in the carb

Just because you are getting fuel in the carb bowl doesn't mean its going where it should be, if you are sure that you have a spark when its not running, it may well be fuel, clean the carb again, make sure the seal between carb and engine in OK too..!.

I sprayed it with starting fluid. fired then died. Ok so When it fired it gets no spark. Pulled the cover off and the flywheel were the mag pick up is is rusted. lots of rust. going to clean it now. should have looked there first. after that ill try and see about cleaning the carb out completely.

if it starts when you spry starting fluid in the carb and then dies its getting spark but not fuel to keep it running if i wasn't getting spark then it wouldn't start and die

You can't go wrong in cleaning it, when done give it something like WD40.

Cleaned it out lots of gum. Put it back on fired up strong died again. As it was stalling I sprayed some more starting fluid didn't seem to help. Found a bad ground from the magneto wonder if this is the problem.
If I find my snap-on spark tester it would make life easier.

After soaking it for a few hrs we cleaned it. Then we heated were the fuel is suppose to be sucked up to help loosen the gum. Im now running some mm oil to keep it from gumming back up.
