The My CMM1200 battery-operated mower has a 24V charger with a 3-pronged plug but the charger is dead. I kept the two 12V batteries charged over the winter by removing them and individually charging with a 12V maintainer charger (as used for motorcycles). I now found another 24V charger for a different mower but it only has 2 prongs. I would like to cut off the original 3-prong plug from the defective charger and connect it to the cable of the the good 2-prong charger. Does anyone know what that 3rd prong is for or if it's even needed?

It's probably just a ground, and might not even connect to anything. Just make sure to get the polarity correct when you splice the wires.

I believe the 3rd wire tells the charger to turn off when battery is full. Just my thoughts. "Think I read that somewhere"
