How many different filters is there for Briggs and Straton engines? My mother has a Craftsman mower with something like a 17 hp engine, I need to cross refenrence the oil filter so I can pick one up with some old and sevice the mower for her. She lives in a tiny town and I'd rather pick the stuff up and take it with me instead of driving there and then having to drive 30 miles round trip to get the stuff.
There are THREE. Two black, one short and one long, I would go with the long if in doubt. The third is yellow and is stated as extended service. Use the black unless you know you have yellow.

Not that it is my top choice, but I cross-referenced it to a Fram PH3614. Got it on, filled it with some synthetic oil, changed her blades. Gotta pick her up a new air filter and she be good to go for a few months.
