I have a 6HP engine on a craftsman riding lawn mower engine SN 30120. I have cleaned and adjusted carb but can't get it to idle. As soon as it slows down even a little it quits

The other Number is 143 2360 12 The 3 could possibly be an 8, but idon't think so.

Do you think this is a Briggs engine? The motor name plate has been scraped and everything is missing except for those numbers. i got it to idle down some today but then it would gallup and shortly quit.

Does your engine surge at idle? If so the carb is dirty and it must be cleaned or replaced. Todays gas is tough on carbs.

The 143 is the manufacture code for Tecumseh.
