axle shaft snap rings

I just replaced the bushings and seals on my Troy-bilt horse tiller and the first time I took it out the axle slid all the way to the side. I installed new snap rings and I am sure that they were seated. It did not seem that the axle was worn in that area.

Did I miss something?

Try posting a picture of the axles with your snap rings. Have you looked at a drawing?

I had a drawing when I put everything together. It will be a while before I can get any pictures. I probably won't get to check it out until later. Too many other projects right now.
