Hi all,
I am having problems with my little Atco Lightweight mower. It is refusing to start, which I believe is down to the carb flooding as fuel leaks out of the air filter when the tap is turned on. As far as I can see, the float is not stuck and the valve is working. I am at a loss to work out what's wrong with it!!
The float needle valve can not be working properly, as it is what controls the fuel entering the carb.

Being in the U.S., I have no idea what you have. Who made the engine? Any model numbers for research?
A brass float can have a leak, and take fuel on the inside, you would have to remove it and shake to verify. Or a chunk of dirt can be in the system that makes it flood.
The float just lets in enough fuel for a reserve for the engine to run under different usage loads, so gas will be there when throttled up, et., but will shut off when the bowl is full. So not shutting off is easy enough to find and fix.

Hi all,
I realize now I didn't give much info on the engine! It's a Villiers Midget mk1 on an Atco Lightweight 14". The Villiers midget is a two stroke mower engine. The Atco is my profile picture if you want images!
Has with the above post not many on here will know much about that one, but saying that its like any carburetor it may well be down to needing just a good clean, so look for improper float to float valve contact and check the valve seat after so many years will have signs of wear, but you should be able to repair it...!
