Ariens Series 936 012 Help needed....

Hello all,
I just joined, this is my first post.
I really could use some advice.

I've acquired an Ariens 936 012 tractor.
It's in nice shape, but of course has a couple of issues that need to be addressed ASAP.

I've put new blades on it, bought new belts and the main Idler.

The first issue that needs to be addressed is the main Idler is rubbing on the Electric Clutch/Brake pulley as shown.
The top and bottom are missing.

I'm in the process of degreasing the under carriage, but looking at the way the engine is sitting, I'm thinking this could be an issue, if not the main issue.

If anyone has this series or a similar series, if you could set me straight I'd sure appreciate it.

Are all of the engine mounting bolts in place and the mount area holes solid? The engine looks moved out of place in the pictures.

Look how close the upper cowl is to the battery. Sitting might close for comfort.

It's fixed, correct!
Three of the engine bolts were lose and one was missing.
Tractor runs and cuts awesome now.

Thanks all that replied.

Hi JohnnyEmac,

I recommend you give the entire unit a thorough visual inspection for anything else that might be out of place loose or missing.

Make sure you replace the missing bolt with a similar one to the originals. These bolts have to be in place and tight at all times. How tight? If you did not break them off, they are tight enough. LOL

All kidding aside though a universal bolt torque chart can be found online and that will "get you in the ballpark". Most of them are 3/8-inch diameter or 12mm.

Speculation tells me someone has had this engine off the chassis for a sump gasket replacement, which is not uncommon.

Remounting the engine back loose is uncommon. LOL
