I have a Ariens/ Kohler XT7 walk behind self propelled mower. It ran great the first seson then started giving me problems with stalling/ not restarting/ running rough etc.
I've replaced the carb once. It broke while i was cleaning it. So it is an aftermarket replacement. i still have the issue of it stalling/running rough. it will run fine..get rough and stall... a few pulls and its back in action only to repeat the same thing all over.
This is what I've tired so far:
-it has a new spark plug
-i read about the gas cap vent being clogged. I dont understand how to check to see if it is clogged but i did try running without the gas cap and it still stalled.
-its getting gas...i checked the bowl seems to be working fine.
I read about Kohlers having issues with the diaphragm on the choke being bad. How do I diagnose/repair this? or am i way off base? I'd really appreciate some advise....
Kohler does have problems with this carb. But now you have voided any help from them when you installed an after market carb. I've attached a manual for your engine and hope the your carb is the same as the OEM. Take a look at the Idle jet on page 19. They have a habit of clogging.
