Wrapping up this thread with this post.
I was able to pry the "NB"-part away from the fan disc and also the blade holder. It was carnage... The splines in the fan disc is totally gone and the holder was melted to the disc. I suspect that something, maybe just dirt, blocked the whole assembly at some point and the NB-part just started spinning inside the fan causing extensive heat fusing the knife holder and the disc together.
I will give up on this machine. These parts are expensive and I don't want to sell something that is this poorly constructed. I will keep the engine and put the rest of the machine up for sale for parts. Perhaps someone needs a wheel or a handle or something.
