It's amazing what new reed, and new oil seals will do to perk-up a Duraforce engine. Starts on first pull every time now.

Two-Stroke
It's true of any two-cycle engine. The crankcase must be well sealed or the fuel/air mixture won't be transported efficiently to the combustion chamber.
This is elementary for anybody who has worked on these for a while... The piston's down stroke compresses fuel/air that's in the crankcase and, at the right moment, the fuel/air rushes up into the combustion chamber.
