i have a 2006 17.5 briggs and i am removing the ignition cause of mice.the mower was givin to me and the black and red coming out from under the flywheel im assuming is for the charging system.i plan on a simple wiring system and don't no what to do with these wires in order for it to charge.this is what im going to try and please tell me if im wrong.starter button with two wires.one going to pos batt and the other on the clip to solenoid,neg batt to frame,solinoid to starter,pos batt to the other solenoid post.i don't no where to put the alternater wires red and black

The alternator wires "must" go through a diode/rectifier which synth DC voltage from the AC alternator. If you don't have the diode installed, all of your battery voltage will be returned back to your alternator stator and drain the battery. Your alternator will be acting like an electric motor. A diode allows current to flow in only "one" direction which is DC voltage.
I don't want to sound stupid but the red and black wires are into a white connecter.is this where it would plug into.the guy that gave it to me said it would run if I jumped the solenoid but no it sounds like a few hands have worked on this.i cant afford to have a shop do this.is there a diagram somewhere .I no what a rectifier is but I don't see one on this anywhere.
The alternator wires have "nothing" to do with starting or running the engine. If you have 2 small terminals on the base of your solenoid, then yes, one of those will bring your power from the alternator to the battery. The other small terminal is the trigger terminal which when activated bridges the 2 large terminals like a switch. This is "usually" a yellow wire. You can verify this by checking for 12 volts when you turn your ign switch (or button) to the start position.
my solenoid has one tab and it use to go to ignition switch before I took all the wires off.i took the cover off and all I see is the wires come from under the fly wheel and they connect to a white connecter.now what use to go into that connecter is my mystery.i don't no how im going to get this to charge if I get it running
OK then your charging system is independent and there is no need or purpose in connecting your alternator to the solenoid.
I appreciate your help but what do I do with the black and red coming from under the flywheel?are they from the alternator or regulator?how will it charge.i don't no if this helps but the engine model #is 31c707 type0154e1 code 050209ze.

You will have to work out by yourself looking at the wiring in the photo to see which connecter you have.
And by the way, the Regulator/Rectifier will not be find under the flywheel, better for you to buy a manual and do a little more reading.
