Allergies

I haven't been able to mow for the last 30 years because of horrific allergies. Present situation means either I do it, pay to have it done or it doesn't get done. (we paid the guy who used to do the lawn around the house over $1300.00 pr year) Does anyone else on the forum suffer from this? I have been using a 3M particle mask which seems to work acceptability well unless you try to use them more than once.
Thanks
Bill

Re: Alligeries

Bill, What is it about WA that the allergies are so bad? I have needed windshield washers on eyeballs since forever. Luckily I'm used to it an do not want to get hooked on medicine.

I have to take allergy medication, or I would have to stay inside all the time. Here in mid Tn its bad too.

Ah, Yes Washington and it's reputation for rain! Mostly applies to the left coast of the state. Live on east side of Cascade Mountains, where 2/3rd of the land but only 1/3 of the people live (We live in Yakima) and rain no longer becomes an issue. Over 300 days a year with sunshine, average humidity in the 40% range. Summer temps in the 90 to 100's, (we keep telling ourselves it a "dry heat" and not as bad. Sometimes, that actually works!)

I didn't have a problem as long as i didn't try to mow, but for some reason the allergies that made life miserable for me when I was a kid came roaring back. Made even worse because now not mowing is not an option. The 3M 8210 mask works but is a PIA when you are using it.

It's the same here in Florida, right now Oak seems to be at a high. What helps me is to do a sinus rinse using the NeilMed. Also a Benzedrex inhaler helps if needed and it's not addictive.

Besides the blurred vision from runny eyes I have post nasal drip and my sniffer departed years ago. I have to use Louisiana Hot so I can taste my omelettes. Never have had the allergy scratch test. Afraid to. We have cats-no problem. Once a guest allergic to cats almost strangled after a 1 hour visit.

I can walk into a house, not see any cat evidence but I can tell within 15 minutes if a cat lives there. Just ordered a 3M 6291. If that doesn't do it, nothing will.
Another note, I have to wonder why Toro does not list the part number of the oil filter in the owners manual. (Yea, it's a Kawasaki engine, but you would think they would at least list the number)

I use to use one of these but I would be reluctant now.

Bill, what is a 3M 6291?

I did a search for allergy respirators and this one came up with the best rating.

3M™ Half Facepiece Respirator Assembly 6291/07002(AAD), Medium, with 3M™ Particulate Filters 2091/07000(AAD), P100 24/cs: PPE Safety Solutions - 3M United States

Doctor put told me to take Sudafed, 4 times a day. Worked great with one issue; Didn't have to worry about being drowsy, I could not sleep. Went 48 hours wide awake! Now I take in in the AM. Nothing else works as well, but I have to be careful not to take it after about 10:00 AM
