Advice on Exmark Ztr

I have been using an exmark Viking for the past couple years and have about 15 lawns all pretty open, and have been turning down new customers due to the fact that I am too busy and can't keep up with the mower I have. I have been contemplating upgrading to a Ztr and think I'm going to finally make the move and purchase one so I can pick up some more lawns. However, I am unsure which lazer z series to buy, either the e or s. The X looks a little too expensive and unnessecary for my use. I would like to be able to save some money and buy the 52" e series lazer but want to make sure that I will still get a good cut quality and good performance but will definitely change to an s if the e is lacking good cut and performance or has any other reoccurring problems or if you see anything with the s series that makes the mower much better and worth the money. Any information/ feedback is greatly appreciated. thank you!

You should be able to use the E series without any cut issues, the BTS is 18500. It will handle your 15 lawns and a lot more. For Residential work it actually would be your best bet. It's cheaper to buy and cheaper to run, helps the overhead. The lazer E series will handle 70 lawns a week easily.

Thanks for the info ric, do you find that there is any difference in the cut between the e and s lazer z? Also, how does the cut of a lazer z compare to the cut of a walk behind like the exmark Viking?

You'll probably not see of difference in cut between the two. there both 18500 bts and use the same deck. I also think you'll get a better cut with the ztr than the walk behind but that's just my opinion. I also believe if your interested in increasing your productivity rate the Ztr will do that. The thing is that either mower will get you what you want. Personally I don't want to carry 12 gallons of gas, I'll stick with the 8 Gallon and the E series.
Just to throw a wrench into the works, if you like the walk behind and you want the Ztr you may want to pick the best of both worlds and get the Vantage, I absolutely love my Toro Grandstand.

yes I had been thinking about that but just am not sure if I'd like a stand on I actually demoed the grandstand the other week and liked it but would also like to try a Ztr. What is the big difference between the e and s series that would make people want to purchase the s then?

The differences are really minimal. The S has a 12 gallon tank where as the E has the 8. The S has a choice of engine between the Kohler or Kawasaki and it's a larger Hp I would guess seeing it has the 12 gallon tank. Exmark is made by Toro but they use their own deck but it's basically the same mower. I can tell I can mow 20 or more yards with the 8 gallon tank I have on the ZM 2000.

The Exmark Lazer I believe is the same as the Toro Z Master which you may want to consider looking at before you buy the Exmark because like I say there the same mower but you'll find the ZM is is generally some cheaper as far as cost.

The ZM uses or has a full 7 ga. deck on there 3000 and up series unlike the Exmark which uses the 10/7 so the Toro a lot heavier, same with the Grandstand it's a 7 ga unlike the Vantage which is the 10/7. The thing I would suggest would be to set down with the spec sheets and compare the mowers or for that fact any mower your interested in, check them out real well and get what you want.

Thanks for the feedback ric, I will definitely look into everything before making any decisions on a mower. I thought there would have been more of and difference b/w the e and s series but sounds like there isn't. It all depends on the prices, maybe a toro would be a better decisions. IIRC when I was looking a them a couple of years ago I think the S series had fans on the pumps and the E series did not. You may want to make sure before you make your decision.

As I've been looking and comparing both the mowers together, it seems to me like the s would be a much better choice. It has a lot of upgrades and other components that would make it worth the extra money. However, I am unsure which engine to purchase, and then which hp to get with that engine, either the kawi and Koehler. Does anybody have any info that would make me choose one or the other or are there any reoccurring problems with the two?
