I need to adjust the float. Do I just use a needle nose pliers and just bend it up? I have been dealing with this issue for a couple weeks, finally figured out float is not letting gas in fast enough to keep up with mower needs. I did find an easy way to there is a problem with the float, Turn carb upside down and see if you can blow air through gas inlet, if you can the needle is not seating, turn carb right side up and blow into gas inlet, should be able to blow air with out much obstruction. On my particular carb I can get air to enter through the inlet however does take quite a bit of effort, I need to adjust the float a little more.
I just use a small screwdriver and finger pressure to adjust the float height. Before doing I suggest you replace the float needle and seat, part number 92-9697.
I replaced all last year, float,needle and valve, Only difference was mower sat for close to a year with stabil in the gas, wondering if that fubar'ed the float causing it to not float.
Did you clean the jet on the left side of the carb under the decal? In my opinion, stabil does more harm than good. I would start over and run the unit dry at the end of the season.
on these cork-float carbs, you use needle-nose pliers and bend the brass bracket up or down in the space between the float and where the bracket pushes on the needle. Do not put pressure on the float, as this can loosen the cork float from the bracket. On those models that have a plastic float, I don't think there is any adjustment for float height.
Finally got the float adjusted correctly, I just used my fingers to adjust the float. Not much movement needed probably in the thousands of an inch. By blowing in the gas inlet I was able to fine tune the float, took probably 5 different adjustments until I finally got it right. The running issue was stalling out just like running out of gas.
