A cautionary tale.

We had a few people in our street that didn't bother clearing up their leaves and didn't bother clearing the snow, then as the snow melted, the slushy leaves became very slippery. Our postman slipped and sprained his ankle, so this is a cautionary tale for next year.

Yes, there is definitely a lot of risk involved in not keeping a pathway clear or taking car of overhangs. Gutters can break, limbs can fall -- there's just a lot that can happen if we aren't diligent enough.

We've just moved in and there are leaves all over the property. How hard would it be to clean the wet, cold, sometimes snowy mess now? How would you do it?

All over the property, meaning the lawn - wait till spring.

All over the property, meaning sidewalks and driveway - wait for a bright, sunny day then dig in. (This is not a job for a snow-thrower, unless you want to spend half the time unclogging it.

If at all possible, I'd push it off till warmer weather comes:laughing: but if its on the sidewalk I guess it is good to have the leaves off, sounds like a messy job though... leaves and snow together...

Wow. That's really sad! I once sprained my ankle while working and that is not fun. Since then, my ankle has never felt the same. I oftentimes wonder if it was something more serious but I always forget to mention it to my doctor.

Yep, it's the sidewalks too. Having not cleared the lawn, it's all just spread and blown around so I have to do something or one of the kids will go down. I'll do as advised though and leave the rest till later. 'Leave' it..... unintentional but it made me smile
