I have a 30" Ariens rider with an 8HP Tecumseh TVM195. Had a lot of trouble with it last year. Hard starting and ran rough, Rebuilt the carb and it didnt help. Replaced the carb this year, fresh plug, new airfilter. Starts okay, but now, it only runs for about 20 minutes and begins to misfire and wont stay running. What else do I need to look at? Coil? Thanks in advance. Jerry

Run it until it dies, and then remove the plug and see if you have spark. No spark, replace ignition module.

Does it have points or electronic ignition?

Points. I have the plate / module off, but the only numbers I see are +30545, and a -2 under it.

Yeah, I'd go ahead and replace the points and condenser, it is something that needs done from time to time anyway.

Okay, thanks. Can I replace just those parts, or do I need to replace the whole unit?

Part numbers 30548b and 30547a, make sure you bolt the coil back in the same exact spot that it was....
