Can't get my bs 8 hp to run properly. Run rough, I have rebuilt carb, new fuel pump and fuel lines, new spark plug. Any suggestion to get smooth running ?

Post numbers from engine, model xxxxxx, type xxxx, code xx. Check & replace air filter.

Results engine manual, Adjust valves to specs. per manual.

Back to my original thread, been laid up with a broken shoulder so there's been no work done for a few months. Briggs 8hp 196437-1041-e1. Won't start, turns over but won't fire, good gas, good spark to the plug but does not fire. I had it apart in the fall and my memory has failed me and I have a couple wires that I don't know where they go. One is a black wire with a spade connector which I assumed went to the spade junction on the kill switch. The other is a white wire with a stripped end, don't know where it goes. The engine was controlled with a swith panel at one time and is now used on a log splitter. Sure would like some assistance
