Trying to figure out the wiring from the on/off switch to the coil one is black another is white. I need to know what position on the coil is correct?

This site should help you out. The coil number has been superseded, but connections are the same. https://www.partstree.com/models/10...tch-kit-1979-1982/switch-and-wire-assembly-0/

ON-OFF switches don't have polarity. With only two leads it doesn't matter electrically if you swap them. The correct wiring is therefore going to be the easiest way to hook them up, Also, Lawn-Boy sometimes uses different size terminals on leads to enforce which way you hook them up (even different terminals on opposite ends of a wire). See if they are the same.

One goes to CDI and the other to ground, right?

If you would go to the site I posted it will tell you which wire goes where. Do you really want me to type out which wire goes where instead of going to the site yourself?

Well, I went there, Rivets. Heh heh...and you're right, as usual. The colors are shown. And don't you find it interesting that because of how generic these parts are, none of the color/length combinations are available? Just make your own and ignore the colors! : )

Scrub, you make it too easy, that’s what I didn’t want to do. That’s why I posted the page so he could do a little of the work.

It really doesn't matter what color the wire is. It can be Purple with Pink Polka Dots as far the grounding cares. Just got to have the right terminals.
