my 618 grasshopper will not go forward on the rt. side (just hear a winning sound) when I push the rt steer lever forward, However when I pull the lever back the reverse works fine. Does this mean that the hydrostat is junk or can it be repaired with new seals? Can a rebuilt unit be purchased?
Any input would be helpful.
thanks Dave

big daddy ray
could be seals in valve body pump is working also wheel motor is ok your valve body is the problem
Big Daddy, thanks for your reply,I did get my hydrostat repaired, The problem was that a bolt in the check valve had come loose and let the ball open up. I probally could have repaired the valve without removing the hydrostat from the mower, but I am very happy to have gotten it fixed very fast and at a reasonable cost
