Hey all,
I have a Craftsman 5-speed, Model No. 917.254611. I haven't run it since last year. Rear wheels were removed to replace tires because of dry-rot. Upon re-installation of wheels, the mower was started and, when put into any gear, won't move. Belt is tight, drive axle pulley is turning.
I noticed that the left drive axle has no axle key. Looks like it hasn't for quite a while.
When the mower is on jack and rear wheels are off and when put into gear, axles turn, but can easily be stopped by holding them. When one axle is turned clockwise, the other axle turns counterclockwise. Why? (This is probably "normal" but could someone explain the principle?)
When both axles are turned the same way at the same time by hand, they don't move.
Any helped would be appreciated. The lawn is creeping up.
Thank you,
Todd
